Dan Waters
Dan is the FSA Sector Leader for Asset Management being responsible for the FSA's overall strategy, risk identification & mitigation and liaison with that industry sector.  He represents the UK in the CESR's Investment Management Expert Group and in IOSCO's Standing Committee 5 on Investment Management.  Dan is also the FSA's Director of Conduct Risk, leading the FSA’s work on identification and mitigation of major risks to consumers.  Prior to this, Dan was Director of Retail Policy and Conduct Risk, and before that of Regulatory Strategy and Risk, responsible for the FSA's strategic planning, risk management and assessment systems, performance measurement and risk analysis and research.

Dan, who is a lawyer by training and a graduate of Harvard Law School, was the FSA's first Director of Enforcement.  He previously worked at the Investment Management Regulatory Organisation where he was Director of Monitoring and Enforcement, and at the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission where he was Head of International Enforcement Operations.




Mary Callahan Erdoes
Mary Callahan Erdoes is Chief Executive Officer of J.P. Morgan's Asset Management line of business, one of the largest asset and wealth managers in the world, with $1.7 trillion of assets under supervision (as of September 2009). She is a member of JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s Executive Committee and Operating Committee, the decision-making groups for the day-to-day strategic and operating matters of the corporation.

In 1996, Mary joined J.P. Morgan Investment Management as head of fixed income for high-net-worth individuals, foundations and endowments. In 1999, she became head of Investment Management and Alternative Solutions for the Private Bank. Following the J.P. Morgan/Chase merger in 2000, Mary assumed responsibility for the global suite of investment solutions and investment strategy for private banking clients worldwide. In 2005, Mary was named CEO of J.P. Morgan’s Private Bank. In 2008, she became Chairman and CEO of Global Wealth Management at J.P. Morgan, which comprises the Private Bank, Private Wealth Management, and Bear Stearns Private Client Services.

Before joining J.P. Morgan, Mary was a managing director with Meredith, Martin & Kaye, a fixed income specialty advisory firm. Prior to that, she worked at Bankers Trust in corporate finance, merchant banking and high yield debt underwriting. Mary is a graduate of Georgetown University (B.S.) and Harvard Business School (M.B.A.). She is a member of the Board of Directors of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. In 2009, Forbes Magazine named Mary one of “The 100 Most Powerful Women in the World,” and US Banker Magazine featured her as the 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking. She lives in New York City with her husband and three daughters.




Knut N. Kjaer
Knut N. Kjaer (53) is President of RiskMetrics Group and have direct responsibility for the firm’s global risk and corporate governance businesses. RiskMetrics Group is a leading provider of risk management and corporate governance products and services to participants in the global financial markets.

Kjaer  was the Chief Executive Officer of Norges Bank Investment Management since inception in 1997 until 2008.  As CEO of Norges Bank Investment Management, Mr Kjaer was responsible for the operative management of the Norwegian Government Pension Fund (the Oil Fund) and the management of Norway’s foreign reserves. Total amount of funds under management was more than USD 400 billion by year end 2007.

Mr Kjaer has a Masters Degrees in Economics and a degree in political science, University of Oslo. He has attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School .

He has been a researcher in the Department of Economics at the University of Oslo and with Statistics Norway. In 1986 he co-founded and became a partner of the Economic Analysis Centre ECON. From 1994 to 1997 he was Executive Vice President of Storebrand, a listed company within the financial sector.

Mr Kjaer has also been member of the Board and Deputy Chairman of the Oslo Stock Exchange, Chairman of the Board of CICERO Centre for International Climate and Energy Research Oslo and Chairman of the Board of Storebrand Bank.

In September 2008, Mr Kjaer was appointed as Knight Class 1 of the Royal Order of St. Olav by His Majesty King Harald of Norway for his management of the Government Pension Fund and his considerable contribution to the Norwegian economy and the future financing of pensions.

Mr Kjaer is member of the investment committee of the Dutch fund ABP, the largest pension fund in Europe, and has recently become member of the International Advisory Board of China Investment Corporation.  He is also executive advisor to FSN Capital Partners, and advisor to the Global Fund managed by the World Bank and to several other funds.
